The artworks I have created are taken from various historical art works with elements omitted, altered or added to in random way’s to produce something ‘original’. My current practise is committed to the idea and concept of how a painting is able to question its origin and meaning by being repainted or reworked in different and often random ways. I scour art books and magazines constantly looking at various images that may or may not work together when put next to each other in a different context. When we look at an artwork part of the way we see an artwork involves focussing on different aspects of a painting. For example we might notice details in the background or foreground, shadows and light effects, and parts of bodies or faces that when taken out of their original context can produce different forms.  By working in this way I have gained an insight into how we interact, understand and look at artworks and my aim is to communicate these ideas to a wider audience.
